Chris Jorie has worked for over fifty years in theatre, television and film. He has collaborated with distinguished artists including Thomas Kail, Tony Award Winning Director of HAMILTON; Academy Award and Emmy Nominated Actress, Mary McDonnell - DANCES WITH WOLVES, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and Christine Lahti, Academy Award winner for LIEBERMAN IN LOVE. Chris has also worked with Robert Downey Jr., Ryan Gosling, Keri Russell, Laurie Metcalf, Judi Dench, Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Tommy Lee Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, Stanley Tucci, George C Scott , Judith Ivey - and Ephie Aardema from this Season's Broadway production of OUR TOWN and FUNNY GIRL. He is a director, writer, producer and actor as well as a performing and media arts consultant and specialist. He portrays Czar Nicholas the 1st in the upcoming historical drama feature, DEATH COMES TO PUSHKIN. Chris was recently Assistant Director for award winning writer/director, Emily Mann, on her new play, CODE RED, presently in development in NYC. Chris is also set to direct THE BOOKWRITER, a romantic comedy feature film - and a producer and writer for his original feature films, HEAVEN ABOVE EARTH BELOW and BATTER THE HEART. He is also Executive Producer for the feature, THE GODS WE CAME TO BE, with writer/director Ian Stout, based on sound artist Tryshe Dhevney's biography, Soundshifting.

Chris Jorie has directed plays in theatres all over the USA, from Aspen Colorado to Off-Broadway. He directed the Regional Premieres of DOUBT, WIT, PROOF, HAVING OUR SAY, PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE, THE OLD SETTLER, SPINNING INTO BUTTER, COYOTE ON A FENCE, SOUVENIR, A BODY OF WATER direct from their Broadway and off-Broadway runs. American Classics include, FENCES, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, THE MIRACLE WORKER, and the musicals, MAN OF LA MANCHA, MY FAIR LADY, CAMELOT and GREASE, as well as the Regional Premieres of FIRST DATE, ALWAYS PATSY CLINE, A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD, HONK, JUST SO and the Beatles Tribute, IN MY LIFE. Chris has also directed and help develop numerous new works including, SEE ROCK CITY, SAVAGES in addition to, I TOUCH THE FUTURE, THE SPIRIT IN MY SOUL and THE REAL ME for young and family audiences. He has worked as an acting coach along side directors and actors on numerous television and film productions for PBS, ABC, CBS,TNT, Paramount, Disney, Buena Vista TV and Nickelodeon. Chris is a member of SDC, STAGE DIRECTORS & CHOREOGRAPHERS, the Guild of Professional Stage Directors, SAG/AFTRA, Actors Equity and the Dramatist Guild.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, DANCES WITH WOLVES

"Anne Nelson's historical drama has a lacerating beauty. Set in Manila in 1902, during the raging Philippine-American War, it manages to compress a continuous cycle of conquest and retribution into one night of charged encounters between a naïve young soldier (Brett Holland), whose job it is to guard an ailing military officer on trial, and the Filipina nurse Maridol (Julie Danao-Salkin), who is there to ease the accused man's suffering before his trial resumes again in the morning. Major Waller (James Matthew Ryan) is like a figure out of Conrad—bloodshot and ravaged, accused of enigmatic crimes, half-mad with memory. Nelson, a former war correspondent, brings eloquence to this wartime drama, and the director, Chris Jorie, elicits quietly incisive work from his cast."

From the En Garde Arts Benefit honoring Playwright/Director, Emily Mann with the Change Agent Award for her over 50 years of groundbreaking work in the American Theatre. We followed the award with a special reading of her newest play, CODE RED. Judith Ivey, Christine Lahti, Emily Mann, Rosalyn Coleman Williams.
